Maybe we really do all go and have a lovely picnic in Gwen's secret garden.

That's sounds ruder than I intended

You get the mini-moa after chopping down a mighty tree with the herring.

Yes, the more I think about it a picnic in Gwen's garden near EotN is the perfect solution.

We could use the tapestry shred to lay the food on, gorge ourselves on egg, fish and berries, then use the rock as an interesting conversation piece...

Once we've had the loveliest of times we'll nip back to Katherine in Gyala to tell her all about it, which will make her cry cause she wasn't invited and her only friends are turtles.

Maybe the herring is a red herring as well as a clue? Maybe we should read it as 'her ring', referring to the newbie quest on Istan where you have to retrieve a ring from some nests?.

Fools! These items, once gathered, will open the portal to the Secert Moa level, where you will slaughter countless Moa's in the hopes of getting rare items!

You'd need to carry a tank around for it to swim in....that would be cumbersome.

I bet's it's a wink to Monkey Island, and the use of all those items have no sense at all.

As good a theory as any! Except, I just did that quest on my new paragon yesterday, didn't see anything new or interesting compared to the other times. Of course, I wasn't carrying the mystery items.

But in all honesty, I don't think that the requirements for this will depend on not having done an existing quest.

An idea....

Perhaps you take all this stuff down the rabbit hole and have a "picnic" by the tree at the bottom.

All I can say is...I'm hooked!

I will be following this closely to see what happens.

Now just to get access to the falls. Guess I will have to finish up the Kurzick side now.

Default Consolidation of information

Some of the items you guys listed have been about before the egg apeared. I think it's more likely that only the Egg, Hardening, Herring, Nest, Kathrine, and Volcanic Rocks have anything to do with this mystery because they all appeared around the same time according to reports. Therefore I believe the the berries and the stones in the crystal desert and the salad(use for teh Bokka quest) and the gwen items that one can find skattered about Tyria and elona are somthing diffrent altogether. Anet has a habit of keeping the gwen items a loose end and i think that they will stay a loose end until the last major update like the one that brought us sorrow's furnace.

List of "NEW" moa items:
egg
hardend egg
volcanic rocks
herring
nest

That's all I think is available now... if anything the last clue will be somewhere in EotN. I guess all we can do is gather our supplies and wait for that clue which i believe will be somewhere in the Asuran lands in the Tarnished coast south of the Maguma.

P.S. Thanks to Galie for her post that allowed me to solidify my theory
